A New Beginning

Closing 2024 and getting ready for 2025

First of all, let’s acknowledge that this is our first ever newsletter, something that we have talked about for almost 2 years now but 2025 is the perfect time to start something new! We want to not only give you updates and insight on our adventure but also help you plan your own adventures. So get ready to see us in your mailbox once a month!

2024 is the year we left our home in Kenya after living there since September 2020. This country will always be a pivotal point in our lives as it allowed us to live our dreams of full-time travel. Our adventure started back in 2019 when we were religiously watching travel YouTubers from Kara and Nate, to the Bucketlist Family, and so many more. Back then we were traveling the world from our couch in Halifax, Canada dreaming of doing the same one day and this is when I decided to start a YouTube channel, something Tracey was not very warm about to say the least.

Then an opportunity presented itself for an overseas position where I worked, something I wasn’t very warm about but Tracey convinced me. This is how, after months of preparation, we moved to Kenya to start a new and truly important chapter in our lives. It took four years of working over 80 hours a week between my office job in Nairobi and the making of our videos. Tracey was working for us full time, planning every single trip, responding to emails, taking care of finances and so much more to keep us on track. These 4 years weren’t easy but they led us to where we are today, full-time travellers.

Going Full-Time

After leaving my job back in August 2024, Tracey and I hit the road to start this new chapter of full-time travel which started in Utah where we lived in a Tesla Cybertruck for a week. This was such a weird feeling! Traveling with no end in sight, no date to return to work and no real plans after that week. This felt like FREEDOM but also came with a lot of financial pressure as neither of us had a salary anymore and contrary to popular belief, we are not trust fund babies and far from being millionaires. Between the YouTube ad sense, sponsorships and affiliate marketing we needed to be able to live but also make the most expensive type of content which is travel content.

WE FAILED!

Our first multi video series was a flop. We travelled around Turkey, did a lot of different things from sailing on a yacht to food tours, visiting ruins, and so much more but no one watched. This was a big reality check for us telling us that we cannot simply do whatever we want and make videos out of that. We needed to research and make sure there is interests before traveling somewhere to create content.

Thankfully our worst series ever, which if you didn’t watch, we highly suggest as those videos are really good, was followed by one of our most successful series of all times which is the one we filmed around Sri Lanka. That was a blast!

Spending some quality time in the family cabin in Nova Scotia and planning our year ahead.

Gearing Up for 2025

2025 will officially be our first 365 days of full-time travel and it is equally exciting and terrifying. As of now, our plan is to heading down to Mexico for a short week in February for a family trip before flying to Asia where we would like to explore China, Japan, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam and who knows what other country in that region. We would also love to go back to Africa, somewhere for an epic safari adventure.

At this time, the only things that are confirmed are of course the week in Mexico and a 14 days overlanding road trip around the land of Ice and Fire, Iceland which we are beyond ecstatic about!
